Deborah Nord grew up in southern Louisiana and moved to California in her early 20ʼs. She earned a BFA from New College of California and has made the Mendocino coast her home for many years.
I consider myself a nature painter and lover of wild places. I most often paint plein air as I love the immediacy and direct connection that it gives me to my subject. I am taken with the way nature can sparkle and offer so many variations from intensity of midday to the soft tones of dusk or dawn. I find it intensifies in me a deep connection and appreciation of the world.
