Artist Statement

What can be more intriguing than combining

science and art? I thrive on the experimentation

and problem solving that is part of the art-making

process, and am delighted by imagery that has

conceptual surprises.                                 KER

The Art Experience

I make art as a way of exploring. I hope to communicate relationships, interactions, and story, leaving room for individual viewer interpretation and discovery. I am particularly interested in concepts and techniques that fuse art and science, that is, that combine visual aesthetics with knowledge gained by the systematic and objective investigation of the natural world. Studying the properties of art materials is, in itself, fascinating, and connects to principles of science in practical ways. My work includes serigraphs, paintings in acrylics and watercolor, and drawings in pencil and ink. Currently I am focusing on botanical illustration. Some day I expect to indulge in drawing and painting by computer. I also make art for the fun of it.                                                         KER
