Representational Works in Oils

Pause in the Rain
Oil on canvas  24" x 30"

$1550

I have been working in oils since 1986. In 1994 I began to exhibit my work publicly and have had many one man and group shows in the East Bay and Mendocino County. Currently, my paintings and reproductions are displayed at the Edgewater Gallery in Fort Bragg and the Artists’ Cooperative of Mendocino.

My work is representational with a focus on the emotional effects of visual perception. I work directly from my subjects, without using photographs. My landscapes are painted en plein air. I am not trying to create the illusion of reality. I want to stretch the process of perception as reality does in those moments when we are stunned by what

we see – moments when just seeing makes you ecstatic. I am interested in that flickering drama that underlies objective forms.

Joseph DuVivier also is a specialist in digital reproductions of artwork.
