Making art has defined my life. Earliest memories are of drawing with my older sister. My confidence grew as I recognized my ability to reflect the world around me. Art has enriched my teaching career and both of my daughters are talented artists.
A lifelong resident of Northern California, I have always revered the beauty of our breathtaking natural environment. My paintings are of the Pacific Coast and some incorporate Pomo basket designs with indigenous plants and animals.
An important part of my artistic journey has been as a student. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Humboldt State University and have studied over the years with great teachers like Bill Martin, Anne Maglinte, and world class instructors at the Mendocino Art Center.
I study watercolor, landscapes and portraits in oil, chalk pastel in plein air, and Chinese brush painting. My work can be seen at The Artists’ Co-operative of Mendocino and the Long Valley Health Center.
Making art is as important as eating.
