NANCY
McCARTHY

Oil painting is fairly new to Nancy McCarthy, although it's been a life- long dream. She seemed to be much too busy with career and family to test her abilities until recently.

A graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington and Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, she retired from 35 years of medical research in 1995 and moved to the Mendocino Coast to start a new life. And it's been a very GREAT life!

Except for taking several classes from Ken Sikora in 2001, Nancy is self taught. She had never taken an art class before...ever! After this initial exposure to oil painting, she became addicted to the process of portraying the old western frontier life that she loves so much. Most of her paintings are cowboys, horses, sheep, bison, moose and still life of items in her home that she's collected over the years from flea markets, barn sales, the Southwest and Mexico. She also designs and creates the redwood frames to be an integral part of the painting.

She's represented by the Artists' Cooperative of Mendocino.
